METALLICA will receive the Polar Music Prize this spring.  It’s basically the Nobel Prize for music.  Previous winners include StingEmmylou HarrisChuck BerryPaul SimonPeter GabrielPink FloydBob Dylan, and Paul McCartney

JIMMY PAGE says there’s still a bunch of LED ZEPPELIN stuff from the vaults coming out, but the band is probably done for. There will be a new Led Zeppelin live album released some time this year, and he’ll continue to dig through the Zep vaults in the future.

February 23 is the release date for THE DOORS Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970. Here’s video of the band performing “Light My Fire”.

On Valentine’s Day MOTLEY CRUE drummer TOMMY LEE proposed to his girlfriend Brittany Furland. For those unfamiliar with Furland, she was popular on the social media site Vine.

Coming April 13, a 45th anniversary edition of PETE TOWNSHEND‘s first solo album, Who Came First. The set will include a bonus disc of previously unreleased tracks. In other WHO related news, the band’s Live at the Fillmore East 1968, is set for release on April 20.

Could the end of the road be close for KISS? On February 8, Kiss Catalog Ltd., the umbrella company for all that is KISS, filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to register the phrase “The End Of The Road”. Speaking of KISS, check out video of GENE SIMMONS at a solo show on February 16 in Lynn, MA, where he’s joined on stage by a fan, who belts out “Calling Dr. Love”. The fan, Brian McCauley, is a graduate of the Perkins School for the Blind.

FOREIGNER fans should mark April 27 on their calendars. Foreigner with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra & Chorus, will be out on that day, and it features the band performing with an orchestra in May of 2017 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
