Today’s Good News 3-21-24

New data from around 13,000 law enforcement agencies shows that crime in the U.S. declined significantly last year. That includes a 13% decline in murder in 2023 from 2022 . . . a 6% decline in reported violent crime . . . and a 4% decline in property crime…………… A Dallas woman in her 80s recently passed away, and a neighbor named Lisa Kanarek . . . who barely even knew her . . . ended up adopting her elderly dog named Gaia. Gaia spent most of her life inside, or in the woman’s backyard.  But Lisa started taking her on more and more walks . . . realized she really loved kids . . . and she’s now working as a therapy dog.  Her first gig was at a children’s hospital.  She also helps cheer people up in hospice………And finally……………… 

Two high-school sweethearts from Michigan reconnected 73 years later and started dating again.  Bill Hassinger is 90, and Joanne Blakkan is 92.  They met on a school bus and went to prom together, but broke up after she left for college. Joanne’s daughter looked Bill up two years ago and realized he only lived 80 miles away.  So Joanne wrote him a letter . . . then he called her . . . and they fell in love all over again.
