A stray kitten on Long Island got stuck 15 feet down a pipe outside someone’s home, and firefighters couldn’t reach it, but a volunteer named John Debacker showed up and got it out in 20 minutes by playing cat sounds on his phone. He works with a group called Long Island Cat Kitten Solutions that catches strays to spay or neuter them. The kitten he saved is now up for adoption, and since she was found in a pipe, they named her Piper……………..Zoo Miami gave a Father’s Day shoutout to one of its residents this weekend. Goliath is a 500-pound Galapagos tortoise who became a first-time dad this month at age 135. A spokesperson for the zoo called him “living proof that where there is a will, there is a way.”………………And finally…………
Speaking of zoo animals, elephants might be your new favorite after this: A gazelle was trapped in a body of water at La Aurora Zoo in Guatemala City recently, and a quick-thinking elephant extended its trunk into the water to create a place for the gazelle to climb out. That didn’t work, but, cheered on by a crowd, the elephant managed to wrap its trunk around the gazelle’s horn and pull it to safety.
