Good News

The World Athletics Championships in Tokyo had a nice moment Saturday.  A steeplechase runner from Colombia fell and hurt himself in one of the qualifiers, and a runner from Belgium stopped to help him over the finish line.  He actually turned around and jogged back to go get him.  (Here’s the video.) ……………….16-year-old Connor Belanger was tubing down a river near Vancouver, British Columbia, and saved a one-week-old baby beaver that got separated from its mom.  If you’ve never seen one that young, they’re cute.  An animal rescue place is taking care of it, and plans to release it into the wild in 18 months.  They say it definitely would have died if he hadn’t scooped it up………………And finally……………

Bam Bam, a 14-year-old service dog, was taken from owner Angel Santiago’s Chicago backyard in June, and the community came together to help bring him home. Angel, who’s legally blind, walked more than seven miles a day, passing out flyers and looking for Bam Bam. As his story spread, strangers donated money to help, and volunteers passed out flyers, organized searches, and shared updates online.  After 72 days, an unidentified couple dropped the dog off at a local police station, and Bam Bam and his owner were reunited. Angel said “I held him in my hands, I checked his ears to just make sure it truly was him, and it really was Bam Bam. I couldn’t believe it. Everyone who called in, wishing their support for me, thank you. I will never forget this.”
