American Emilia D’Albero is a cheese expert who studied at the Philly Cheese School.  (Yes, that’s an actual academic institution.)  and she just won one of the biggest cheese competitions in the world for the first time.  She competed at the Cheesemonger Olympics in France last month.  It included a written test, blind cheese tasting, a cheese-sculpting event, and one where competitors had to cut the cheese.  (!!!)  She’s the first American to win gold…………………….. Roughly 60,000 people worldwide die every year from rabies . . . and now, researchers in Colorado have created a new, single-dose vaccine that doesn’t require refrigeration, which could greatly expand access across the globe……………And finally……………

Wildlife photographer Shawn Miller is in the news for helping out some crustaceans.  He looks for hermit crabs using trash as their home , things like bottlecaps and PVC pipes, and he offers them actual shells instead.  He first started thinking about the idea in 2010, and now he has a project called Make the Switch 4 Nature, where people donate shells, and he leaves them in areas where hermit crabs live.  He’s helped rehome hundreds of crabs, and picked up a whole lot of trash along the way.
