A South Carolina Piggly Wiggly cashier gave a woman the wrong lottery ticket, but she’s not complaining.  She asked for a specific type, but he handed her one for a game called Palmetto Cash 5.  It didn’t have her normal numbers, but she rolled the dice anyway and won $300,000…………….A piglet that jumped off a truck on an Iowa highway will get to live out the rest of her life on a farm. The police and DNR worked together to round her up and get her to animal control, where someone named her “Peppa.”  A group called the Iowa Farm Sanctuary is taking her in. They say she’s got some bruises and road rash, but she’s otherwise okay………………..And finally………….. 

The Ohio Wildlife Center partners with five different prisons in Ohio, where inmates can sign up to help rehabilitate animals.  The center’s hospital treated some 9,000 animals from almost 200 species throughout the year, and the animals that recover and require further care before being released go to home care volunteers throughout the state, with 70% of them being incarcerated. At the prisons, the volunteers work with all types of injured or orphaned birds, rabbits, opossums, and more, and have helped save over 185 animals and return them to the wild in the first half of 2025 alone.
