GA seventh-grader Dalton Tomberlain recently choked on a burger at lunch, and a teacher named Valerie Hodge saved his life. It happened last month, and the school just shared a video of them talking about it. Valerie says she learned the Heimlich years ago while working at a daycare in college. (Here’s the interview.)…………… A woman in Canada just saved her best friend’s life by giving her a kidney. They met in seventh grade in 1980 and were best friends through high school. Laura Fowler got tested a while back and found out she was a perfect match for her friend Cheryl, but Cheryl didn’t accept the offer for a full year. Laura kept pressing until she finally said yes. The surgery happened last Thursday, and they’re both doing great. She told a reporter, “We’ve seen a lot of our friends pass over the last few years, and I wasn’t ready to let her go.”……………….And finally…………….
Nine employees at a PA Hampton Inn stayed overnight this week to help out dozens of guests who got snowed in. No one checked in on Sunday, but 40 people from the night before, including some wedding guests from out of state, couldn’t check out. Nine employees volunteered to stick around and pull a very long double. The manager said it was actually pretty fun. Guests AND employees had a blast.
