A NYC nun shielded a toddler from a falling tree during the recent big snowstorm. She was watching the kid while he played outside near a convent on West 51st Street when the tree started to fall. She shielded him with her body, but luckily, the tree missed them by a few feet. A security camera got it on video………. 36-year-old Texas woman Erin Hunter-McPhan had open-heart surgery as a baby. Doctors at Dallas Children’s Hospital didn’t think she’d make it, but she pulled through. She ended up having six more surgeries to deal with a heart condition, and now her story’s come full circle. She took a job as a program manager in “quality outcomes” at the same hospital that saved her life……………And finally…………..
In 2024, Iowa high school sophomore Sherry Wittkop began chemo after being diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma, then had multiple surgeries, eventually ending up with a prosthetic. She planned to hit the hardwood this year, but her cancer came back. Wittkop returns to chemo soon but told her dad the one thing got to her was not being able to score in a basketball game. But there was a plan – she led the team onto the court for pregame warmups at Kick Out Cancer Night with everyone wearing shirts that said “Team Sherry — Stronger Together”. At the opening jump, the ball was tipped, then passed a few times before it came to Wittkop, who got a right-handed layup off the glass. After the game, she said “I just love that my teammates are always there for me. They have been there for me since day one and it’s just so nice to be able to have that support and that family”.
