By now you’ve heard of the Oklahoma high school principal who was shot recently while stopping a school shooter. The principal’s name is Kirk Moore, and in addition to saving countless lives, he also got an unexpected honor this weekend: prom king. In the video from prom night, the DJ introduced Mr. Moore as “our king” and all the students went nuts………….A volunteer organization called “Pilots to the Rescue” is rescuing pets from high-risk shelters and flying them somewhere safer. The latest flight rescued 40 cats and dogs from Georgia and flew them to New Hampshire, where shelters have more space and higher adoption rates. The pilots say the mission is all about second chances, and they’re already prepping for the next flight, but this time it’s to rescue birds……………..And finally……………..
More than 6,500 volunteers came together in Charlotte recently to build over 10,000 beds for kids in need – and they did it all in just 24 hours. In order to get it all done, they worked assembly-line style, using 200 miles-worth of raw lumber, 2,000 gallons of stain, over 730,000 wood screws and nearly 18,000 sanding discs. The finished beds will be delivered to families in 36 states through the charity Sleep in Heavenly Peace. More than 140,000 children across the United States are currently waiting for a bed (Here’s a news report.)
