University of British Columbia researchers found a biodegradable rinse that can remove around 90% of pesticides off fruit. In case you were wondering, washing fruit with water only gets rid of 40%. The new rinse works by adding a thin, edible coating to the fruit which will slow browning and spoilage. Scientists say this could help produce stay fresh for longer. (Here’s video.)……………. Two Maryland state troopers are being called heroes after saving an infant from choking. The troopers were handling an unrelated call, when a grandmother rushed out from her house with a baby who couldn’t breathe. The cops immediately jumped into action and cleared the child’s airway in no time. Bodycam footage shows how calm they were in such a scary situation……………And finally………………
Last Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders selected quarterback Fernando Mendoza as the #1 overall pick in the draft. He’s projected to make around $10 million in his first season, and he’s already giving back. Fernando announced he’s donating $500,000 to the National MS Society to accelerate progress toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. His mother, Elsa, has MS.
