They quickly called for help, as she was exhausted and exposed to the severe heat without water. The teens were praised for their quick thinking, which likely saved the woman’s life. Artemis, a ten-year-old Australian Cattle Dog in Omaha is living with liver cancer but found a new calling – acting as a surrogate mother and comforting orphan kittens. Artemis, who volunteers alongside her owner Adrienne Kanan for Muddy Paws Rescue, was originally given only a few weeks to live, but has now surpassed six months since her diagnosis. By adopting, nurturing, and caring for litters of orphaned kittens, she found a new sense of purpose that her owner credits with significantly extending her life and keeping her spirits high.
