Artemis, a ten-year-old Australian Cattle Dog in Omaha is living with liver cancer but found a new calling – acting as a surrogate mother and comforting orphan kittens. Artemis, who volunteers alongside her owner Adrienne Kanan for Muddy Paws Rescue, was originally given only a few weeks to live, but has now surpassed six months since her diagnosis. By adopting, nurturing, and caring for litters of orphaned kittens, she found a new sense of purpose that her owner credits with significantly extending her life and keeping her spirits high.
