A LeRoy, NY nursing home resident suffering from dementia had a wedding ring stolen from her hand. The victim’s family reported it to police, and Detective Kaden Vangalio spent months conducting interviews and database checks to no avail. He eventually ended up in Buffalo, where he went from pawn shop to pawn shop looking for the ring himself, and he found it. He also got the bill of sale, leading him to the suspect, who was charged with larceny for taking the ring while working at the nursing home. The police department said “This may not be the crime of the century, but you cannot put a price on the sentimental value of a wedding ring. We are proud to help bring closure to this family and grateful for the excellent work of Detective Vangalio in making that happen”.
