79-year-old Beverly Thomas is a retired nurse whose arthritis and tremors made it tough to maintain her NE Ohio property. The situation got worse when she was summoned to court over the condition of her yard and threatened with possible jail time. Living on a fixed income meant she had little money for hiring help or paying legal expenses. A local TV station shared her story, and folks in her area stepped up to help. An attorney offered legal assistance, and lawn care pro Norburt Sanek organized a cleanup effort for the property. Volunteers put plans together to trim overgrown vegetation, remove a large dead tree, and haul away debris. Beverly said “I’m touched that people care. I know they’re out there, just didn’t know how to reach them.”
