Say hello to Velvet! She’s one of those dogs who looks like she should be walking in slow motion with a spotlight on her. Velvet is a Rottie mix, about 2 years old, around 65 pounds, and has the kind of shiny coat that makes her name make perfect sense – but Velvet is not just pretty. She is gentle, loving, fun, and has just enough goofy charm to keep things interesting. She prances when she walks, enjoys exploring, and has an athletic side that could make her a great adventure buddy or jogging partner with some training. Velvet can be strong when she sees cats or other dogs, but she listens and is able to settle herself back down fairly quickly. In quieter areas without a lot going on, she walks calmly and stays attentive. She does pull toward other dogs on walks, though it has not appeared aggressive, and a meet-and-greet is recommended with any potential canine companion. Once Velvet has a chance to settle, her affectionate side really starts to show. She enjoys being close to people and has so much love to give the person willing to see the whole dog. Like many shelter dogs, Velvet is heartworm positive, but heartworms are treatable. She is beautiful, silly, athletic, affectionate, and ready for someone to realize just how special she is.
