Powerball winner Edwin Castro is putting part of his $2 billion jackpot back into his hometown of Altadena. Edwin hit the lottery in 2022, and has spent about $10 million buying 15 lots damaged by the Eaton Fire, and he plans to build single-family homes for people who want to live there rather than turn them into rentals or sell them to leasing companies. Edwin is also donating three properties to a housing foundation that provides down payment assistance, maintenance grants and financial education….. A baby made history last year for being the smallest ever delivered at a St. Louis hospital at 12.3 ounces . . . and after spending her entire first year in the hospital, she finally gets to go home. Aria Gillespie was born at just 22 weeks, and the last year has not been easy. A lynx that was rescued from Ukraine just took her first steps on grass after settling into a new outdoor habitat at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent, England. Ursa was found seriously ill in Kyiv in January, but they were able to raise $180,000 to bring her to the U.K. through what staff described as “a high-risk mission with border crossings through an active war zone.” Ursa now shares her new home with several other rescued wild cats.
