ICYMI: After spending nearly six decades building his ENC business, the owner of Grady-White Boats, Eddie Smith Jr., turned down huge offers to sell the company and instead transferred control to a trust. Eddie took over the near-bankrupt company in the 60s and helped grow it into a business generating over $100 million annually. Under the new structure, the company can never be sold . . . and its profits will help fund charitable causes through a nonprofit social welfare organization that will support conservation, education, healthcare and other causes in Eastern Carolina……………. More than 3,000 people in Trinidad and Tobago regained their sight during an amazing 12-day medical mission that provided free eye surgeries. Volunteer surgeons used a high-volume cataract surgery technique that allowed them to perform up to 450 procedures a day. Many of these patients could never have afforded the surgery, so it was a truly a blessing…………………And finally……………
A Wisconsin man in his 60s named Ernie recently came to the rescue of Detroit rock band the Autumn Kings, who were driving down a rural highway after a show when their van broke down. Unfortunately, it needed two days of engine repairs, but the group had just ten hours to make it 500 miles to their next show in Michigan. Ernie stopped by to see if he could help and ended up handing over the keys to his Ford Explorer so the band could finish their tour. When the Autumn Kings returned the truck, they asked why he wanted to help. Ernie said “I’ve never met a live band before, but I just (did it) to help three strangers on the side of the road.”
