A chihuahua named Flag may have helped save his owner’s life after repeatedly pawing at the underside of her arm for years. His owner eventually had the area checked and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Luckily, the owner is now cancer-free . . . but she says Flag’s unusual behavior prompted her to go to a doctor. She noticed that the dog stopped pawing at her arm after her first round of chemotherapy and has not done it since……………….A pet goose in Texas is getting credit for saving a family’s life after it alerted them to a barn fire. The family was asleep when Goosey started honking really loudly as flames tore through their barn. The family woke up, grabbed a water hose, and put out the fire. A nonprofit run by 15-year-old NC high school students is working to make trauma resources more accessible. Trauma Readiness for Every Adult and Teen – known as TREAT – was launched in July by students in Greenville and Winston-Salem. The idea came together after a deadly school shooting in Winston-Salem in 2021. TREAT is working to increase community access to trauma kits with supplies like bandages, packing gauze and tourniquets. The group hopes trauma kits will eventually be as accessible as first aid kits and AEDs, and they’re collecting donations on GoFundMe, to buy and assemble trauma kits, create educational materials, and support community outreach efforts.
