91-year-old widower Eric Edwards has been working at McDonald’s for eight years . . . not because he NEEDS to . . . but because he loves it. Eric gained online love and appreciation recently, when a social media post featuring him went viral. His wife passed away 24 years ago . . . and he says working helps him stay engaged and enjoy life. He adds, “If it’s something you can still do reasonably well, you enjoy it, and it keeps you going, why stop?”……..Former NASA researcher Diana Yousef invented a waterless toilet called the iThrone after realizing that people without access to plumbing face many of the same challenges as astronauts. Now her toilet serves about 20,000 households in places like Uganda, Panama, and the United States. The toilet works by rapidly evaporating 95% of the water in human waste, which makes disposal safer in areas without sewage systems……………And finally…………….
12-year-old NC girl Sadie Hutson has “rescued” over 100 stuffed animals from thrift stores. With help from her mom, she cleans and repairs them by hand, and then donates them to children who have lost their homes in fires. Sadie says she’d learned about families affected by disasters, and knew she wanted to help. The Red Cross recently awarded her a Certificate of Appreciation at the Central Surry VFD. Sadie shared her story because she hopes it will encourage other young people to step up. She said “As long as you do it through the kindness of your heart, you can do it.”
