Even though Bob Seger had already put out nine albums, things really came together for him in 1976 with the release of “Night Moves”, the first record to credit his backing band, the Silver Bullet Band.
The album was released October 22, 1976, and Rolling Stone’s Kit Rachlis called the record “simply one of the best albums of the year”, and hoped it would finally give Seger the national following he deserved. It did. The album had three hit singles – the title track, “Mainstreet” and “Rock and Roll Never Forgets”, and went on to sell more than six million copies in the U.S., becoming Bob Seger’s first platinum record.
We’re paying tribute to “Night Moves” on its 50th anniversary by playing the record, in its entirety, on Thursday, October 22 at 8pm. We’ll also have the tracks in the spotlight that weekend, sharing insights and info on each tune.
