Designating it as a national park protects about 12,000 acres filled with rock spires that were created by volcanic activity around 27 million years ago. The area was first protected as a national monument in 1924 and is now America’s 64th national park……………A man named Casey was driving from Georgia to Alabama with his son when his GPS sent him in the wrong direction, but that wrong turn wound up saving a family’s life. Zura the cheetah recently had five cubs at the Smithsonian’s Conservation Biology Institute in Virginia, and they installed a live camera so you can look at their den around-the-clock. People have loved watching them wrestling and going crazy with their siblings, but the cameras have another purpose, too. They’re also used by their caretakers to monitor the family remotely. Less human contact gives the cubs more time to bond with their mom. (You can check in on the family, here.)
