Employees for a Phoenix moving company helped save a three-year-old girl after an Amber Alert went out over the weekend. They were at a gas station on Sunday and saw a little girl that fit the description, so they used their moving truck to block the suspect’s car. The girl is now back home safe and sound………….. A gust of wind blew a baby stroller into Lake Michigan in Chicago last Wednesday, but the baby in it is okay after a random guy dove in to save her. Paramedics got her to a hospital, and she was listed in good condition. The guy who saved her, 30-year-old Lio Cundiff, had to be monitored in the hospital overnight. He told a reporter he’s not a strong swimmer, he just reacted. The water temperature in Lake Michigan is barely above freezing. (Here’s his interview.)…………..And finally……………
Baltimore’s Carmen DeBerry recently got her commercial driver’s license at community college, opening the door to a job that helps provide for her daughter and her mother. CDL training can be expensive, but DeBerry received what she thought was a workforce scholarship, learning later that it was funded by Metallica’s charity, All Within My Hands, which has donated over $10 million to workforce education programs. Metallica’s James Hetfield says the mission behind the scholarship program is simple: celebrate and support the skilled trades. He believes the next generation of success stories will come from hard-working tradespeople who keep the world running — truck drivers, plumbers, electricians, and skilled workers.
