Two Germans tried to ski about 104 miles across a frozen lake between Finland and Sweden, but the ice around them started to break up and they lost their gear. The skiers were smart enough to spell out “SOS” with nearby ice blocks . . . and luckily, they were spotted from the air by border guards only five hours later. The skiers said they were cold but unharmed…………….A Maryland family got a surprise when their cat, Artemis, turned up after being missing for FIVE years. The cat disappeared from the family home in 2021, and then miraculously turned up in some lady’s unfinished basement. Luckily Artemis was microchipped and reunited with her family. There’s no word on how far the cat travelled, but the shelter said this is a textbook case for why you should always microchip your pets…………….And finally…………………
Tomorrow is National Rosie the Riveter Day, and it just so happens to be Philadelphia-native Mae Krier’s birthday, who’s an original Rosie the Riveter. Mae is turning 100, and she’s asking for something bigger than a birthday gift. She wants to help honor millions of women who powered the U.S. through World War II. Mae was a former Boeing riveter who helped build B-17 and B-29 bombers at age 17. So now supporters are raising private funds for a Washington, D.C., monument recognizing the “Rosies.” It was a project first imagined by a fifth grader inspired by Mae’s story.
