A tiny MI burger joint just helped out a competitor in a time of need. Chef Tim Bergstrom is battling cancer, so it’s been tough running his restaurant Bergstrom’s Burgers, but crosstown rival Oakwood Proper Burgers came in to help. Oakwood Proper did a fundraiser and sold out its shop of burgers and gift cards. They wound up raising tens of thousands of dollars for Chef Tim to help pay his medical bills. An anonymous donor kicked in $10K, and local bakeries, brewers, and chefs all pitched in too, turning the day into a full-blown community rally.
