More than 2,000 volunteers recently showed up across the Milwaukee area for a massive river clean-up . . . and they made history while doing it. The group broke a Guinness World Record for the largest multi-location river clean-up. Organizers said the record was powered by “community pride” and a “shared commitment to protecting local waterways.”……………A butterfly known as the large tortoiseshell has officially returned to England decades after disappearing. They used to be all over until Dutch elm disease wiped out many of the trees its caterpillars depend on. This butterfly species had not been considered a resident of the UK since the 1960s, but conservationists now believe it is recolonizing the country………………And finally……………….
Restaurant owners in Ohio surprised their entire staff by shutting down their business and taking everyone on an all-expenses-paid cruise to the Bahamas. Jeff Dinnebeil and Megan Lingsweiler, co-owners of The Standard, covered flights, cruise tickets, and their lost wages so employees could enjoy the trip together. Staff members were obviously thrilled . . . and now they’re saying everyone feels like family.
