Two Missouri college students have created an eco-friendly paint that’s made from algae. Their startup, MicroHues, uses natural pigments that avoid petroleum and microplastics. This would reduce the environmental impact and potential harm to waterways, and it’s also designed to be safer for children and people with sensitive skin. Their idea for an eco-friendly paint started as a class project, and it’s already moving toward becoming a viable business……………….A grieving widow fell behind on rent and faced a series of financial hardships . . . but her story circulated online and she got overwhelming support from strangers. An Uber driver who noticed her situation reached out for help, so a YouTuber offered to clean up her yard, and then came a fundraiser that’s raised over $650,000, which has been placed in a trust to cover her medical care, housing, and basic needs. A CA teenager is in the news after diving into a harbor to rescue a struggling dog. Mateo Akerman noticed the dog getting exhausted in the water, and it didn’t look like he’d make it back to shore . . . so Mateo dove in, swam out, and carried him safely back to shore. He and his friends then used the dog’s collar to contact the owner and stayed with him until he was reunited with his family. (Here’s a news report.)
