A Phoenix housing development recently displaced nine breeding pairs of burrowing owls. But a local solar farm stepped up and allowed conservationists to relocate 19 adult birds to the site and build 40 artificial burrows. The nonprofit is called Wild at Heart, and their efforts were a success. After the relocation, 29 young owls grew strong enough to fly on their own……………. Two Australian men were vacationing in Thailand when they spotted a couple local workers struggling to repair a broken excavator. The steel track was dislodged, but that didn’t stop the tourists from jumping in to help. One of the men was carrying his suitcase to his hotel and stopped to join the crew, then another jumped in. Together they helped fix the track to make sure it was moving properly……………And finally………..
The owner of D’Romano’s Pizza in the Bronx recently spotted a woman eating food from the trash outside his restaurant, so he brought her inside and gave her a fresh slice from the oven. And after that he put up a handwritten sign inviting anyone that’s hungry to come in for a free slice of pizza and water. After word spread, people from across the country began calling the shop to help pay for meals for others. (Here’s a news report.)
