The untitled fourth studio album from Led Zeppelin was recorded over the span of just a few months, and was released on November 8, 1971. The album went on to become one of the best selling albums in the U.S., with more than 24 million copies sold, and almost 40 million sold worldwide.
The album is comprised of eight tracks, with one cover song, a spin on the Memphis Minnie blues tune “When the Levee Breaks”. The iconic “Stairway to Heaven” has had a major cultural impact, and is the best-selling sheet music piece in rock history. Despite it never being released as a single, requests flooded radio stations when the album came out, and it remains one of the most popular rock songs ever recorded.
