Alice Cooper Drops New Lockdown Anthem ‘Don’t Give Up’

Alice Cooper has dropped a new song, “Don’t Give Up,” and an accompanying video, sending out a message of hope for the world amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s a song about what we’ve all been going through right now and about keeping our heads up and fighting back together,” Cooper said.

The visual starts with Cooper saying, “Yeah, I know you’re struggling right now. We all are, in different ways. It’s like a new world that we don’t even know. It’s hard to sleep, even harder to dream.”

“But look, you got 7 billion brothers and sisters all in the same boat, so don’t panic,” he adds. “Life has a way of surviving and going on and on. We’re not fragile, and we sure don’t break easy.”

The song, produced by Bob Ezrin, was recorded at Cooper’s home, using “remote technology,” according to a statement. “Alice Cooper felt the need to talk directly to his fans from isolation in his home, where he is working to finish his upcoming album. It’s Cooper’s shout-out to keep our heads high, to stay strong and to fight back together.”

In April, Cooper released the lyrics of the song and asked fans to share photos of themselves holding a sign bearing a word from the song if they wished to be part of the music video.

Out of about 20,000 submissions, the singer has compiled dozens of images and featured these on select panels in the computer-generated globe and in the background.

According to his representatives, Cooper is currently giving final touches to his upcoming 28th studio album. His previous album was Paranormal, released in 2017.
