The line of cars and people was astonishing for the Empty Bowls Fundraiser on Thursday, 2/24 at Temple Church in New Bern.

Empty Bowls is a partnership between Religious Community Services and Craven Arts Council and Gallery. These events raise money for local stop-hunger and arts programing in Craven County by selling tickets for Empty Bowls. ​The aim was both providing your choice of one handcrafted bowl or home good from hundreds donated by local potters and getting 2 bowls of soup donated by local restaurants, community groups and more, along with the great feeling of knowing you helped better your community with your purchase.

A major force in the Empty Bowls events has been Reba Aylward the John and Reba Aylward Cancer Center in memory of her husband, John T. Aylward, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012.
