First responders in Longwood, Florida near Orlando pulled an elderly guy out of a sinking SUV recently, and the mayor happened to be stuck in traffic and saw it happen live.  Now he’s planning to honor them for it. The guy they pulled out had a medical emergency and drove into a retention pond, but he’s expected to make a full recovery.  They also saved his two dogs………….. Chrysler is selling a new optional package for its Pacifica minivan that’s specifically for kids with autism.  It’s called the “Calm Cabin” package and costs an extra $300.  It includes things like a weighted blanket, a light-and-sound therapy machine, and a velvet seatbelt cover to make long car rides easier…….And finally…………… 

The Steinbrenner High School Boys Cross-Country Team in Tampa, FL always has running partners – local shelter dogs. As part of a tradition that started four years ago, the team makes a stop at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in the morning to pick up the dogs for a good run. The exercise and companionship helps to calm the dogs when they return to the shelter, and that makes them more adoptable, which is the team’s goal.
