Today is Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, and earlier this month, a fundraiser called Shelter Slumber PAW-ty raised over a million dollars for animal shelters across the country.  People slept overnight at different shelters and got other people to sponsor them. More than 10,000 people donated…………….A group of 40 house painters helped out a woman near Vancouver who’s fighting cancer.  They showed up at her house and repainted the whole thing for free.  It’s part of a charity effort that trains new workers and helps people out at the same time……………And finally………. 

Two wild horses in Arizona, a mare and her foal, couldn’t make it out of a mud pit on their own, so an entire team of rescuers showed up to help.  It took seven people more than an hour to pull the endangered horses out, getting the foal free quickly, but struggling to help the mare.  An especially brave man named Andy went into the mud repeatedly, which was risky because the wild horses were thrashing in the mud.  Mom and her baby were exhausted, but unhurt.
