NJ cops rescued a two-year-old who climbed onto a luggage belt at the Newark Airport last week while the mom was distracted talking to a JetBlue agent at the check-in counter. The kid went down a chute at the end of the belt, but two cops were walking by and jumped into action. One of them was able to grab the kid right before he went through an X-ray machine. Luckily, he was fine……………. A UK woman had an old, broken flower pot in her yard that looked worthless, but it wasn’t. It turned out it was made by an artist named Hans Coper, who fled Germany during World War Two. Even though it’s in two pieces, it recently sold at auction for $66,000…………….And finally……….
Wail Alselwi, aka Wally, is the manager and co-owner of Zack’s. Finest Deli & Grocery, a bodega in Staten Island, NY, and he’s been encouraging neighborhood kids to improve their grades since 2023. Students who score 80-90% get whatever they want from the store, and those who make 70-80% can take home $10 worth of items. Students with lower grades who show improvement also get goodies, as do kids with perfect attendance or who are awarded student of the month. If a kid gets 90% or higher, they get their pick of goodies, a $100 bill and a T-shirt. Wally is from Yemen and his kids still live there. He says “I got my own kids back home, and I miss them, so it makes me happy to see other kids happy. I see my own kids in front of me.”
