Today’s Good News 6-30-25

Half-a-dozen Kansas lawn care companies recently joined forces to help people out and raise money for charity.  They mowed and weed-whacked more than 30 yards for free, and partnered with an animal rescue charity.  One of the companies was SB Mowing, whose owner is big on social media, because he cleans up people’s yards for free.  He actually found a litter of stray kittens in someone’s yard, and the rescue charity they partnered with said they’d be put up for adoption soon…….. An apartment building in Cleveland caught fire last week, and Good Samaritans caught a baby dropped from a third-story window.  The mom had to climb down to get out, but they’re both okay…………….And finally…………….

Three years ago, TX mailman Ian Burke met Floyd, a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix, while on his route. During his regular visits, Burke got to know Floyd and his owner, a Vietnam veteran who was confined to a wheelchair after serving his country. A year and a half ago, Burke’s delivery route changed and he lost contact with Floyd and his human. Then, earlier this month, he heard that Floyd’s owner had passed away and a dog matching Floyd’s description was at the city animal shelter. Burke was first in line at the shelter’s front door, and the dog got a forever home with his former mailman. Burke said he’s honored to be Floyd’s new owner and he doesn’t take the responsibility lightly. He hopes that all the media attention that Floyd has received might encourage others to adopt a shelter pet.
