Today’s Good News 7-17-25

In the PGA, The Open Championship gets started today, MLB’s second half starts tomorrow, the WNBA All-Star Game is Saturday, NASCAR is at Dover on Sunday.  So, lots of sports on TV, but don’t feel guilty about parking yourself on the couch to check it out. Watching sports can boost your mental health:  It increases production of the feel-good hormone dopamine . . . it instills a feeling of community . . . and it distracts you from the stresses of daily life……..SC firefighters and good Samaritans worked together on Saturday to save a dolphin that got stranded in a lagoon.  She was stuck in shallow water and couldn’t find her way back to the ocean. They got her on a tarp, lifted her out, and carried her 75 yards up an embankment, then drove her to a dock a few miles away and released her.  She’s actually a dolphin named “Lucky” that’s being tracked by researchers at the University of South Carolina……..And finally………

Koda, a 10-year-old chocolate lab in Alaska, slipped out of his collar on a camping trip July 4th, and his owners searched everywhere, but didn’t think they’d ever see him again. Pilot John Kagerer heard about it on Facebook, went looking for him nine days later, and found him immediately. The plane landed a mile-and-a-half from where he went missing, and within minutes, Koda came strolling out of the woods, so the pilot flew him to Anchorage and reunited him with his owners.
