An AL high school football ref is being hailed a hero for doing CPR and saving another referee who collapsed at a recent game. Referee Joey Shelnutt had just placed the ball at the 25-yard line when he dropped to the ground and stopped moving. Another ref, Lew Murphy, immediately ran to him and started chest compressions. Joey ended up having to be resuscitated twice, but he pulled through. He told a reporter he remembers feeling lightheaded after he put the ball down, then nothing. He said Lew is the only reason he’s alive.
