Fall fishing is finally here. That means everything that lives in saltwater is biting. Inshore, the speckled and gray trout is excellent using live shrimp, finger mullet, mirror lures, gulp and stingray grubs. The redfish are hitting on cut bait, spoons and spinner baits. The spots are in and are being caught on shrimp and blood worms. Lew’s Rod and Reel in Havelock has blood worms for sale. Off shore the kings and Spanish are hitting on Clark spoons. If you want to catch a variety of inshore bottom fish including hog fish, croakers, sea mullet, flounder, and black sea bass – squid is the go to bait.
Fresh water fishing is really good with bream hitting on crickets and worms, crappie on minnows and jigs, largemouth bass on top water.
Remember to take a kid fishing and pick up your trash.
