Today’s Good News 12-11-25

Two strangers who met at SantaCon in New York four years ago are engaged and plan to marry next year.  They’re both high school teachers but bonded over their ugly Christmas sweaters.  The annual event kicks off again this Saturday, and they’re getting a special shout-out at the opening………… A Missouri bank teller stopped a lady from being scammed.  A scammer convinced her that she missed jury duty, and said she had to pay thousands or she’d be arrested.  She was still on the phone when the teller passed her a note that said “you’re being scammed” and refused to let her withdraw any money……………And finally………..

Retired MD police officer Wade Milyard got an idea a few years ago when he was responding to a domestic dispute at a homeless camp, and a couple there told him they washed their laundry in a nearby creek. Milyard never forgot that response, and using his own money and donations, he created a laundromat on wheels. Fresh Step Laundry’s mission is “to help restore dignity to the unhoused community by providing free, accessible, and hygienic laundry.” In the last several weeks, Fresh Step has washed more than 2,000 pounds of laundry, and the plan is to add a second vehicle to double the number of people served.
