Tour guide Portia Duke was recently taking a train through Alaska and when they were stopped in a remote town, she heard a kitten meowing from under the train. She couldn’t get to it, but decided to go back the next day to see if it was still there, and it was. At least five trains had passed over it while it was stuck there, but it wasn’t injured. Portia says she and her boyfriend might adopt it, and there are also several railroad workers who want to………… Humans feed wild animals all the time, but a new study found killer whales are trying to feed us. There are documented cases of orcas offering food to humans. They’ve been seen bringing it up to boats, or even right up to people in the water. They usually wait around five seconds to see if we want the food, and they take it back if we don’t. In a few cases, people accepted the food before tossing it back in, and when that happened, the whales would bring it right back like a dog with a ball. So it’s also possible they’re trying to play with us………And finally……..
Last month, Holocaust survivor Andrew Roth got to meet one of the American Army vets who helped free him 80 years ago. Roth was a prisoner in the Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany, having already survived Auschwitz and, before that, a ghetto for Eastern European Jews. Jack Moran was part of the group that liberated Andrew’s concentration camp in 1945. Both men are in their late 90s now, and Andrew uses a wheelchair. When they met, Jack told him he didn’t have to get up, but Andrew insisted. He stood and gave him a big hug.
