WSFL Hits the Bikers For Christ ALS Ride at Ironclad Marketplace in Kinston

The BFC (Bikers For Christ) takes pride in helping out people not just in the ENC but all over North Carolina. This is just one example of their fellowship and contribution to communities state wide.

On Saturday 7/10 they held a fundraiser for BFC ‘Boston’ who lives in the Raleigh area and is a member of the Capital City Bikers For Christ. Boston is dealing with ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis  is a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. Although the survival time with ALS is three to five years, some people live five, 10 or more years. Symptoms can begin in the muscles that control speech and swallowing or in the hands, arms, legs or feet.

That’s what makes rides like this one so important. People living with ALS don’t have a cure to work towards, but they do need various accommodations, tools, and resources available to them during the progression of the disease. All of these are very costly.

So just know that if you participate in an event that supports someone with ALS, you are making not only a difference for someone here locally, but for all of the people dealing with this disease. If you would like more info click here.
