Today’s Good News 6-5-23

Someone in northern California returned a library book that was almost 100 years overdue.  The last time it was checked out was in 1927, so 96 years ago.  The library decided to waive the fine.  They say it would have been $1,700…………. A student who uses a wheelchair graduated from Seton Hall this week, and her service dog got a diploma too.  His name is Justin, and he went to all her classes with her.  So the school gave him his own honorary degree.  He grabbed the diploma in his mouth, and the crowd went nuts.  (Here’s the video.) …………….And finally………………

Rehan Staton, a guy from Maryland who used to be a sanitation worker just graduated from Harvard Law School.  He was in the news back in 2020 after a video of him reacting to his acceptance letter went viral. Once Staton got to Harvard, he made it a point to befriend the school custodians. Some were shocked that a student was talking to them, he said. He started a nonprofit called The Reciprocity Effect to give back to the school’s support staff, used his own money to buy them Amazon gift cards, and held an award ceremony in their honor. Staton now has a job lined up at a law firm in New York.
