Today’s Good News 10-16-23

A 104-year-old woman in Chicago named Dorothy Hoffner just broke a world record.  She’s the oldest person to ever go skydiving.  The previous record was a 103-year-old Swedish woman who went skydiving last year.  (Here’s the video.)………………… Eight orphaned manatees recently caught a flight from Ohio to Florida to be released back into the wild.  Three different zoos in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Tampa worked with SeaWorld to rehabilitate them. They had to travel in custom-made containers and be monitored throughout the flight.  Then five more young manatees caught a return flight to Ohio so they can be rehabbed and released……………And finally……………. 

This is a nice reminder about priorities:  A SC woman, Salena Webb, loves Halloween and put a bunch of decorations in her yard this year, including a fake coffin but she ended up removing it. A neighbor stopped by last week to let her know his dad just got a cancer diagnosis, and they both agreed he might not want to see a coffin outside his window every day right now. She said she thought about the bigger picture and decided to get rid of it.  Quote, “Kindness is free, and compassion goes a long way.  (Here’s a video.)
