Today’s Good News 12-5-23

Every year for almost two decades, the Christmas Spirit Foundation has been doing something called Trees for Troops.  They partner with tree farms and FedEx to bring thousands of Christmas trees to U.S. military bases all over the world. FedEx announced they just delivered their 300,000th tree for the program last Friday to Fort Liberty in North Carolina.  Most of this year’s other donated trees got picked up yesterday and should be delivered next week…………..A 15-year-old in Canada named Auldin Maxwell is on the spectrum, and owns a crazy world record for stacking Jenga blocks:  1,840 of them on ONE vertical block at the bottom.  And how cool is this?  He got his own Hallmark movie.  It’s called “A World Record Christmas”, and they based it on him.  It recently premiered on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.  (Here’s the trailer.)…………And finally…………..

CA high school senior Charlie Jeffers has always loved LEGO, and now he’s sharing that love with those less fortunate. He launched Pass the Bricks in 2020, a volunteer group that repurposes used LEGO bricks into new original sets: they collect, sanitize and sort them, create new sets with the used bricks, and deliver them to kids whose families can’t afford them. Charlie says the toys helped him learn math and engineering concepts, and how to be focused, flexible, and creative. His organization has delivered more than 3000 LEGO sets to kids in need.
