Today’s Good News 12-12-23

A liquor store in Nebraska did its annual “Good Beer for a Good Cause” event.  They hold a beer tasting, and 20% of sales go to charity.  They’ll use the funds to send care packages to families with kids in intensive care on Christmas Day…… Government workers in New Hampshire showed up to a lake to remove an old dock last Thursday, and ended up saving a guy’s life instead.  He didn’t have a life jacket on when his jet ski sunk, and he was drowning in pretty cold water. They grabbed a kayak and a canoe, and got to him just in time.  One of them wanted to remind people it’s probably too late in the year to be out jet skiing……..And finally……………….. 

Third graders at Sunnyside Elementary School in Fayetteville ha an assignment to read the book “Think Big. Work Hard. Be Kind. No Excuses.” and then write an essay for a chance to win one of three new bikes. After the winners were announced and celebrated, the assistant principal made another announcement, exclaiming, “Everyone gets a bike!”. 60 volunteers were standing by with brand new bikes for everyone. The bikes were donated by Old Fayetteville Insurance, and this is the second year they’ve made this generous gesture in Cumberland County.
