The exact count was 24,185. And for each one, he decided to donate a penny to the American Lung Association. So that’s $241.85. A woman in New York named Dennise Gomez just got to meet retired NYPD officers Eric Ocasio and Charles Claudio, who, in 1996, pulled her from a burning car as a kid. It was an emotional day, because they found out SHE’S now a cop too. She told a reporter, “I want to do what they did for me.” To everyone’s surprise, NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban presented Gomez with Ocasio’s same shield number.
