Attention Tar Heels Fans

This morning, to celebrate the start of the 2024-25 school year, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed North Carolina Tar Heels Bobblehead featuring North Carolina’s live mascot Rameses XXII. The officially licensed bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of the University of North Carolina.

The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link – they’re $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024.

Standing on a UNC logo-shaped base bearing his name, the Rameses XXII bobblehead has Carolina blue horns and is wearing a Carolina blue blanket with the UNC logo. Two versions of Rameses appear at UNC sporting events. One is a member of the UNC cheerleading team in a ram costume; the other is a live Dorset Horn sheep who attends UNC football games with his horns painted Carolina blue. The origin of a ram as the UNC mascot dates to the early-1920s. In 1922, UNC star fullback Jack Merritt was given the nickname “The Battering Ram” for his performance on the field. In 1924, a live ram made its first appearance at a pep rally. The first costumed Rameses appeared during the 1987-88 school year. On October 26th, 2015, Rameses Jr., or RJ for short, made his debut during Late Night with Roy, the UNC men’s basketball team’s annual Midnight Madness event.

“We’re excited to unveil the first bobblehead of Rameses XXII in conjunction with the start of the new school year,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This bobblehead will be the perfect way for North Carolina fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school pride!”

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
